Bengaluru city and “Lal Bagh”

Juni 17th, 2007

Well, I have to keep up with some information on what I am doing here. Otherwise I have to answer to many emails what I will do later on. Well it didn’t happen that much so far because the “indiamization” hit me. I had some funny meetings with the bathroom, a flew and three days of fever but well I survived.

Since then I’m following the rules strictly: “cook it, peel it or forget it!”

Now, to let you participate here are some nice photos on the web available. Last weekend I’ve been to a mango exhibition at Lal Bagh -botanical garden.

On Sunday I had a really nice afternoon with some “Maedels” I met on Hitiki Ewa from Poland and some of her Indian friends Ambika and Eva. We were just lying on the lawn having some red vine, a nice lazy summer day.

Last Friday my bathroom meetings started a gain. And we had an ethnical Friday at work. How cute and funny! Everybody had to dress up in Indian style. Sorry there are no photos of mine available. Every employee participated somehow. Either, they performed a dance, they sang a song composed on their own, some did a fashion show or they performed some comedy we didn’t understand, really cool.

So enjoy having fun with some pic’s

How to drive with a Rickshaw

Juni 3rd, 2007

Hey … I had a real relaxed, funny and exciting weekend. On Friday evening I watched that Movie Blood Diamond it is absolutely recommendable. Saturday I did the first footstep out into the crazy, swarm and agile city Bangalore. This city is packed with people everywhere mostly Indian - white people are seen rarely.
To get from one pace to another you use a Rickshaw. First you have to tell the driver where you want to go in the best case he says nothing. this means he will drive with his meter - which is perfect so he won’t make a fool of you. But may drive a bit longer by choosing the longest way to the place where you’re going.
In the 2nd case you negotiate a price. If it’s a good price from the drivers perspective he is driving carefully and the right way. If you negotiate a low price good for you but often they drive like they are insane in the brain.
But mostly you have to talk up to five drivers until you find one who offers the right price and knows the way as well. In the evening the price is always one and a half. During rainy hours the prices double. Well this is a pretty clever bargain, isn’t it?

… no rules?

Juni 1st, 2007

I was thinking about whether I should write in English or German but probably I’ll mix it up a bit. Just because I’m very interesed in web2.0 and mashups are very common within the web2.0 applications. ;-) So please won’t be angry with me for mixing languages on my blog.

I decided that I don’t want any rules here. I’ll just write what I see during everyday life here in Bangalore, what my thoughts and feelings are to give you a first impression of what this part of India from my personal point of view is about.

Furthermore everything should be consistent. So here in India they don’t have rules for pricing a rickshaw or how to behave on the streets and so on…. so well no rules are a perfect motto for this ‘explore Bangalore’ Blog…

… oh just discovered…

… if you have a strato domain like I do, you also have the opportunity to install a wordpress blog pretty easily. well even if you don’t have much themes to chose from its pretty easy and i like that both work together though.

ok I’ll start reporting on my stay in Bangalore India with the next blog entry.
